APWU President Mark Dimondstein has announced that the union and the Postal Service have agreed to extend negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement for 30 days.

Our current union contract between the American Postal Workers Union and the United States Postal Service covers the wages, hours and working conditions of 200,000 postal workers. The current Collective Bargaining Agreement expired Thursday, September 20, 2018…

All the rights, benefits and provisions of our existing union contract remain in place, and are fully enforceable during the 30-day extension of negotiations.

usps2013WASHINGTON — The United States Postal Service and the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) have agreed to extend contract negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement. Although the contract with the APWU expired at midnight Thursday, September 20, the Postal Service and the APWU have mutually decided to extend the negotiations deadline by thirty days to October 20, 2018.

The APWU represents more than 192,000 employees who work as clerks, mechanics, vehicle drivers, custodians and some administrative positions.

  1. These clowns will drag this out as long as possible in order to milk as much money out of this gig as they can…they’re killing it with their outrageous per diems and 5 star hotel and restaurant accommodations…just to produce the same contract with the COLA’s and 1 percent raise.

  2. The APWU is a cancer on the Postal Service and has WAY too much POWER. Their greed is destroying and bankrupting the very institution that they need to survive. What are you fools going to do when all of the money is gone? Remember that you WORK for the Postal Service. You’re the WORKERS, so do you JOBS and end the “smash and grab” greed. Your stewards are always on stupid “fishing expeditions” looking for another way to scam more money instead of working on their bid assignments.

  3. So you mean to tell me that a postal union and management can’t get a contract done before the deadline? Wow. I sure didn’t see that one coming. Even I could negioate the standard 1% that all unions are going to get again. Postal unions are a complete joke.

    • Then, what you do is, decertify the union and bring in the Teamsters! Otherwise continue working Lemmings…continue working!!

  4. 3 yrs
    1% raise a year
    Cola decrease by 50%
    18% raise in health care
    More work/less pay
    There’s the summation.

    • We just got a 31 cent cost of living raise, I make 31 dollars per hour to watch mail run thru a machine how much money per hour do you think we should make to do that. You can thank Obama care for the cost of your insurance these days. I am thankful for my job and intend to remain so until I retire with 3 sources of income, how many people in the private sector can say that, that’s if I can afford health care oh its that Obama care thing again.

  5. A-PEE-U always so ready to lick postal circus mismanagement butt.(“They Can Do That”) another song and dance number, and instead of a rabbit being pulled out of a hat…..it will be your crummy 1% raise. NALC and Mailhandlers Company Unions will be one step behind. don’t look at the real picture fools…..just look at the smoke and mirrors and shadows on the wall. President Trump…sock it to this dump!

    • What about the always secretive,NRLCA? their contract also is up and they don’t keep their members updated, they have always been a company union and sold out last time for 1% raises and a 3% HB contribution increase that was forced on the APWU last time by the arbitrator. If I were Dimondstein,I would be very worried about what they do to torpedo their negotiations and arbitration case.

  6. I have no faith in the current national president of the American postal workers union. During the lame duck session after 2018 midterms all the damage will be done like in 2006. stop wasting the dues money on negotiating a contract that will be thrown out in the courts eventually. learn from cliff guffey screwed up on like the creation of the pse position

    • Cliff Goofy was nothing but a Downahole puppet who was the worst union president ever.At least Dimondstein will say no to management’s giveback demands on day 29 of this extension and move on to arbitration as expected.
