July 7, 2015 GALVESTON, TX — Smokey is a 15-pound blind dog labeled as a threat to United States Postal Service mail carriers in Galveston.
The aging Jack Russell terrier is at the center of quarrel between the pooch’s 72-year-old owner and the postal service — a dispute that’s drawn ire from a city councilman and kick-started police investigations.
Postal officials accuse the 15-year old dog of threatening –but not biting — a mail carrier on several occasions. Laurie Jones, who owns the that black and white pooch, said she was doing chores in her front yard with Smokey when a mail carrier arrived on a mid-September afternoon last year. The dog was not on a leash, and the postal worker complained to police, who issued a ticket for failure to restrain her pet.
The problem, Jones said, is that she has not received her mail for eight months , despite an investigation by animal services unit that found her dog is no longer a threat.
Jack Russells are biters, even blind ones. How difficult is it for people to follow the law and keep their pets properly restrained? And then the ones that don’t follow the law run to the media and try playing the victim. Ridiculous!
Smokey knows crummy govt service…….would rather have the UPS man visit. Smokey knows how diversity ruined the PO and promoting high school dropouts into postal mismanagement has caused the loss of over $80 billion dollars since 2009. 99% of the losers in PO mismanagement have no college education. can you see any of the dolts taking the GMAT’s (Graduate Management Aptitude Test) for admission into a MBA program? (Master’s in Business Administration) UPS management are college educated. Federal Express’s management are college educated…………….how come the bums at the PO are not held to that standard? no wonder Smokey is pissed off! even blind smokey knows crap when he smells it!
If the owner can see, they can tie the dog up away from the box. How hard is that to understand.
