Car crashes into New Hampshire post office after police chase

A man crashed his car into a post office in Ashuelot Sunday evening during a police chase, police said.

Winchester police said the chase began after officers responded to a domestic disturbance report on Keene Road. Police said they were told that a man later identified as Gage Gushlaw, 21, of Keene, had been in a dispute with his girlfriend in a car.

Police said they were told that a Winchester resident had taken the girlfriend from the scene, and Gushlaw drove off. While police officers were taking information at the scene, Gushlaw sped by them toward downtown Winchester, police said.

Winchester police gave chase but lost sight of the car. A Hinsdale police officer responding to help saw Gushlaw speed past him on Route 119, police said. Shortly after, Gushlaw lost control of the car, struck a fence and crashed through the side of the Ashuelot post office on Main Street, police said.
