SPOKANE, Wash. –It’s the most wonderful time of the year but, for U.S. Postal workers, it’s also the busiest time of the year, with the Christmas season being the Super Bowl of mail carriers.
Postal carrier David Lantz was on his normal route Monday delivering to downtown Spokane businesses. The only difference is he’s carrying much more mail than usual.
“There’s a lot more to carry, you’re juggling a lot more with you, you’re making two and three trips into buildings you don’t normally do,” he explained.
On Monday, carriers around Spokane were delivering four times the amount of parcels they would on a typical day.
“You’ve probably got 90 or 100 packages plus all your regular route to deliver,” Lantz said, adding that with all of the extra mail he’s carrying, the one thing he could use more of is space in the back of his truck.
