DC residents complain of late, missing mail; USPS cites personnel shortage during pandemic

5/20/2020 WASHINGTON — Some D.C. neighbors are still searching for packages that the United States Postal Service has marked as “delivered.” They said mail delays have gotten worse during the pandemic.

“This is quite frustrating,” Neta Vaught said. “We are depending on the mail, but we’re not getting anything.”

Vaught lives in Washington, D.C.’s Ward 8. She said she has multiple mail problems in the last month.

“I was looking for mail, and I realized I hadn’t had any mail in about two days,” she said. “I have a package for priority mail that said that it was delivered on the 15th…nothing arrived.”

  1. COVID-19 is effecting the whole world restaurants, churches, gyms, hospitals, stock markets, grocery stores, you name it and its effected. Why should the post office be any different? Some stations are short of man power because the schools and day cares are closed because of COVID-19 and so some postal employees have to stay home and watch their children. Some stations are short of help because postal employees are being forced to stay home waiting for test results from COVID-19 and what if they test positive quarantine and have other issues based on this COVID-19. People are home purchasing on line helping BEZO to become a trillionaire and those are more parcels coming thru the POST OFFICE. Just like the toilet paper shortage, the empty grocery store shelves, the medical supplies shortages well the postal workers
are carrying a heavy load with a smile on their face when they get to your door. Bear with them and this too should pass.

  2. if there is a need for more help,6,990 useless employees at HQ should be used, and if they can’t handle it,they need to be removed

  3. Radicals not coming to work are causing delays nationwide. “Gotta take care of momma and my 17 year old kid”. Who wouldn’t take 75 or 80% of their pay and not have to come into this hellhole? The good news is Louis is gonna fix it. EAS sitting at home on telecons while everyone else is in the trenches? A good place to start Louie!
