Local law enforcement agencies have confirmed that as of Monday evening, a total of six post offices have been broken into across the Big Country and the surrounding area.

According to the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office, early Monday morning, intruder(s) made their way into post offices in Lawn, Merkel and Trent. Authorities believe the break-ins may have been carried out by someone passing through the area as two more post offices in Coleman and Colorado City were broken into Sunday Night.  The Sweetwater Police Department confirms a post office in Sweetwater was also broken into.

Lawn was the only post office in Taylor County in which the suspect or suspects were able to gain access to the mail room. At all others, the intruder(s) were only able to make it into the collection room.
