Florida Postal worker arrested on mail, credit card fraud charges

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Thursday announced the arrest of a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier accused of stealing credit cards from eight people and using the cards to make purchases totaling $13,981.

Alzet Parker, 51, of West Palm Beach, was arrested Oct. 30 on charges of mail fraud and credit card fraud. The case was handed over to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for prosecution, according to a Sheriff’s Office probable cause affidavit.

According to investgators, Parker, a 20-year veteran who works as a “floater”in the Margate area, would feel the envelopes for a credit card inside. She then used the cards at gas stations, Home Depot, Walgreens, Target, Burlington Coat Factory, Publix and bars and restaurants mostly in Palm Beach County.

Investigators got on Parker’s trail in September after checking Walgreens video surveillance, where a woman wearing a postal worker uniform had made eight purchases with an American Express card, according to the affidavit.

A post office supervisor recognized the woman on the surveillance video as Parker.
