ROSWELL, Ga. —A female mail carrier died under unusual circumstances while delivering mail Saturday afternoon.
According to Roswell police, while the postal carrier was reaching out of her truck to put mail in a mailbox, she suffered some sort of medical condition. She then fell out of the truck and the truck proceeded to run over her. The truck then continued rolling into a nearby unoccupied parked car, alerting neighbors.
Rescued units arrived at the scene and tried to save her but she later died at a local hospital.
The Roswell Medical Examiner identified the woman as 47-year-old Margina Davis, from Blue Ridge.
Authorities are unsure if Davis died from the medical condition or from being run over by the truck.
Postal carrier dies after being run over by own mail truck
She actually died of a massive heart attack and was trying to seek out help in a panic. The truck rolled over her ankle.
It is convenience that this accident happened on the day of the National Food Drive, I feel the carriers are asked to do way too much in picking up food and delivering the mail, our carriers had their trucks full of food, which is a lot of extra work for them. My condolences to her family!
That’s too bad but I agree, can’t help the ones who don’t follow the safety guide lines. Hopefully she had passed before the LLV ran her over. God speed to the family!

At least a lap belt may have made a difference, although we do need to remember she may have died before falling out of the LLV. That’s a terrible thing, because in the case of an uncle of mine, he died behind the wheel on an interstate (how they knew that I don’t know unless they were able to recognize heart damage at the autopsy if he had one, but he was in terrible health) and crossed the median into a semi.
I still see carriers in my branch drive with doors open, no belts and on the busiest streets in town. No matter how much I try to tell them as branch president they refuse to listen. Oh well, if management ever decides to actually venture outdoors and sees them and disciplines them, they’re screwed.
Condolences to the family, friends and co-workers, too.
Condolences to the Davis family. Let this and all acts, please cause us to perform all tasks safely or not at all.
#1. Safety first, last, and always!
Unfortunately she wasn’t applying park brake and taking transmission out of gear while delivering, as required by the post office. Also, apparently wasn’t wearing her seat belt which is also required, not to mention must have had the door open. Safety first people. At least some aspects of this accident were completely preventable. With that said, I offer my sincere condolences to the family, friends and coworkers of this letter carrier.
Seat belt???
god bless
