Hamilton, Ohio post offices to reroute letter carriers

While neither post office is closing in Hamilton, a decision to reroute the carriers may have a small impact on mail delivery times for customers.

Mail carriers who service the Rossville post office at 865 Franklin St. will begin reporting to the downtown Hamilton office, 105 Court St., beginning next month. Mail carriers servicing the downtown Hamilton office will report to the Fairfield facility at 700 Wessel Drive beginning in mid-June.

The change will mean a minimal impact to delivery times, according to David Van Allen, regional spokesman for the United States Postal Service.

“Some deliveries may be slightly earlier, some slightly later,” he said. “Most customers will not notice a difference.”

Rerouting the Rossville carriers to the Court Street facility and Hamilton carriers to the Fairfield facility is expected to save the Postal Service about $200,000 annually in transportation costs, according to Van Allen.

  1. I agree, they do the same thing in my area….hasn’t paid off for the USPS yet. Most of the time they don’t tell what the end number is after it is said and done. Just the “Projected” amounts are given, which sadly are NEVER close to the real number.

  2. Here we go again, every time the USPS says, this should save some money, it really means that it’s going to cost more money. If it was such a cost saver. what took it so long to realize it?? Oh, I forgot, there is one more reason for ANY action the USPS makes changes, SOMEONE will benefit down the road and it won’t be our customers. What was I thinking??
