HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) –

Mail carrier Paul McNeil was the guest of honor at a party Friday morning recognizing his 55 years of employment with the U.S. Postal Service.
Friday, Paul P. McNeil , who still delivers the mail in the Hub City, was recognized by the U.S. Postal Service for 55 years of continuous and dedicated service.
Postal managers, fellow employees and retired letter carriers gathered at the S. 40th Ave. Post Office for a party in McNeil’s honor.
McNeil, 75, was presented a plaque, a letter of commendation and other gifts.
“When I started, we were all walking (on our routes)…no vehicles to deliver mail out of, except for a special delivery vehicle and parcel post,” said McNeil. “Other than that, all the routes walked. (Today) is just another day for me. I just thank God that I’ve gotten this far,” he said.
McNeil said he has no plans of retiring anytime soon.
