Help Save Our Historic Post Offices

Post Office lobby

The historic old post office lobby in downtown. Charleston, S.C

American art and architecture tell the rich story of the triumphs and tribulations of our great nation; a story that defines our nation. In our wisdom we have chosen through Federal Law to protect many of these monuments by placing them on our National Registry of Historic Places.

Yet, we are looking away as some of our most distinctive treasures are being ripped from the American landscape…never to return.  Our Historic Post Offices

From New York to Minnesota, Texas to California these great examples of our American legacy are being given away.  And it is proceeding at lightning speed.  Unique and significant buildings that are listed on the National Historic Registry are being sold with minimal restrictions on development –they can be privatized, abandoned, allowed to decay or destroyed. It is time to stand up and stop the bureaucrats and developers behind this Great American giveaway!!

Many of these post office buildings boast art from our finest New Deal artists. Our taxpayer dollars paid for this art that shows the personality and heritage of our communities…Art that chronicles our journey…Art to inform and enrich this generation and every generation yet to come  Art that belongs to the people.

Our Post Offices represent more.  In large cities and small towns they are often located at the center. No wonder developers are swooping in… This is where community happens, and this is where these impressive buildings have served as the heartbeat of our communities. Where people congregate, where business is conducted, where the flag is flown – sometimes at half-mast.

YOU can help save our historic post offices!!

  1. Pelosi’s husband is making millions selling PO real estate. Talk to him or her if the process bothers you. Maybe they will give you a building that is falling down in a ghetto.
