Historic Downtown Topeka, Kansas Post Office reportedly in final stages of sale

http://www.postal-reporter.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/topekapo.jpg5/19/2018 Multiple reliable sources for the past few weeks have reported that the historic U.S. Postal Service office in downtown Topeka is in the final stages of a sale. Apparently, the Postal Service has selected a buyer but hasn’t signed on the dotted line. A spokeswoman there would not confirm that, but others close to the real estate transaction have indicated that is the case.

I understand the buyer is from out of town but has local ties, and the sale apparently will be good news for the city. It’s a beautiful and extraordinarily large building, so it will be interesting to see what will happen. The USPS spokeswoman said the Postal Service had been conducting a study to determine how much space it will need to maintain in the post office, as part of the sale is an agreement for it to continue with offices and post office boxes there. I also understand that the historic courtroom where the Brown v. Board of Education case was decided will be preserved.

Retail and residential uses have come up as people toss around ideas for the 135,721-square-foot building, which was priced on the USPS website at $1.65 million. I can’t wait to see the end result.

Dem Sen Diane Feinstein and her hubby Richard Blum? back to their old tricks. no VIG for Donehoe this time?
