KTVU – The U.S. Postal Inspection Service is reporting an increase in mail thefts from their postal delivery trucks in San Jose.

The most recent mail theft from a delivery truck happened on Nov. 21 on Julian Street near the downtown area, according to U.S. Postal Inspector Jeff Fitch. The letter carrier was away from the delivery truck and returned to find the back of the truck had been broken into.

“We’re aware of what addresses were affected,” Fitch said. “We’re trying to determine what mail was taken.”
