(September 13, 2014) A former Pikeville, Kentucky postal worker was sentenced to serve nine months in prison on charges of misappropriation of postal funds and selling oxycodone.
According to court records, Sherry Jo Justice, 53, of Pikeville,was sentenced Tuesday to serve nine months in prison and three years of supervised release in connection with the crimes. In addition, U.S. District Judge Amul Thapar ordered Justice to pay $7,457.83 in restitution for the misappropriation of postal funds charge.
According to court documents, Sherry Jo Justice, a former lead sales and service associate at the Kentucky Pikeville Main Post Office and Pikeville Main Street Finance Station Post Office., pleaded guilty to taking over $7,000 in cash from 13 nightly deposits for the Pikeville Main Street Post Office, between Sept. 28, 2012, and Oct. 30, 2013. The amounts ranged from $80 to $2,500. Justice also issued herself a $332.12 money order, another for $84.75, and a third for $50 on Aug. 12 and then cashed them for her own use. In addition, Justice sold four 30 mg oxycodone pills on Oct. 9 and 15 morphine 15 mg pills on Oct. 11 to a cooperating witness.
