Mail carrier robbed in Maplewood, NJ

robberyA mail carrier was the victim of an armed robbery Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The U.S. Postal Service worker was delivering on the 200 block of Laurel Avenue around 4:30 p.m. when he was approached by two men who displayed a gun and demanded money, said Capt. Michael Marucci of the Maplewood police.

The suspects took a phone and cash and then fled east on Laurel Avenue, Marucci added.

The mail carrier was unharmed, the captain said. The police were called at 4:51 p.m., authorities said.
