National President Paul Hogrogian and National Secretary-Treasurer Mark Gardner today announced that they will hold a national teleconference with representatives of the Contract Administration Department and all NPMHU Local Union Presidents to discuss developments in ongoing contract negotiations between the NPMHU and the U.S. Postal Service over the terms of their 2016 National Agreement.

The nationwide telephone call with Local Presidents from all thirty-seven Local Unions will be held at 1:00 p.m. (eastern) on Friday, December 16, 2016.  Details about the teleconference will be sent separately to all Local Presidents.

Should a settlement be reached in the coming days or weeks, it will be subject to a ratification vote by all members, conducted in accordance with procedures adopted by the National Executive Board.

  1. I understood MHU is interested in APWU consolidation. That would be a great move now. After what APWU leadership did for clerks & maintenance crafts. Major improvements in their contract.

  2. Seven months of extended negotiations only to agree to the same crap the NRLCA sold out for, 1% raises offset by an increase in the employee healthcare contribution in a 3 year4 month contract? what a joke.

  3. You folks need to check your postal union history. NPMHU did reach out to merge with APWU years ago, and APWU rejected it. Know, years later, since APWU numbers have been cut in half, and NPMHU (mail handlers) numbers have doubled; know an outcry for a merge. My local NPMHU representation is badass and more than holds its own when dealing with management. On that front the local union reps are what matters. Theres good and bad. I mean really APWU members, how long do you think the USPS is going to keep paying you level 5, 6 and 7 to do the same work as Level 4 mail handlers? They will wake up sooner or later.

  4. If there’s any merging it should be that the Clerks should merge with the Mailhandlers not visa versa. The Mailhandlers are stronger. Pay in lieu, pay in lieu.

  5. Its all about greed and dollars. Its the most idiotic thing ever in union history. They work side by side and have two unions. Its simply a joke. Its a shame because the leadership on both the APWU and Mailhandlers union know its the right thing to do but hey the workers who pay the dues come last and the paychecks for union thugs comes first. Its a disgrace and has been going on since the 1970’s. How can the leaders of both unions wake up in the morning and look in the mirror.

  6. hope you dopes realize that your just getting a 1% raise after this dog and pony show from the MHU…….if they ever tried to give us a 1% raise….we would have ditched our planes in the Hudson river.
so according to you instead of 3 company unions…..you would be happy with 1 company union? why not decertify out of all three and go with the Teamsters? the only thing to lose is your 1% raise and no representation.
snap……….just look at FDX……$197 a share. there is life outside the postal circus.

    • Not sure we’d want the Teamsters retirement at the moment. Ask the truck drivers that are getting their pensions cut in half. ouch

  7. Are they meeting to disband? Why dont they just join the APWU and merge with the clerk craft. Stupid. Same with Carriers rural and city??? Why???
