Mail truck rolls into pond in Boonton Township NJ

BOONTON TOWNSHIP, NJ A U.S. Postal Service delivery truck rolled into a pond after it was parked late Monday afternoon in Boonton Township, fire officials said.

However, no one was injured and the truck was pulled from the pond after apparently avoiding major damage.

After the mail carrier “stepped out of the vehicle” on Renken Court and left it parked, it rolled across the street and then headed down a steep embankment in a backyard, landing in the pond, said Stephen Tallody, deputy chief of the Boonton Township Fire Department.

“It went by itself,” Taollody said.
