October 27, 2015 LAWTON, Okla._A woman was taken into custody after police say she hit a mail truck, knocking it on its side Tuesday afternoon in Lawton.

The collision happened near Southwest 52nd Street and Lee Boulevard. Police say the mail truck was headed north on 52nd Street, when a woman pulled out of a bank parking lot and slammed into the side of the truck. The driver of the car left the scene and kept going for about a quarter of a mile before she crashed into a ditch.

Mail was strewn all over the ground and emergency crews blocked off the area where the mail truck was lying in the middle of the street. Witnesses say this is nothing that they expected to see today.
