12.26.14 EPHRATA, PA (WPMT)- A mail carrier is the victim of a hit and run in Lancaster County. It happened at about 2:45 pm Friday at the intersection of North Church and West Locust Streets in the Borough of Ephrata.
Borough Police say the 56 year old mailman was crossing the street, headed toward his delivery truck, when he was struck. The driver of the striking vehicle, described as a small black vehicle with a loud muffler, fled the scene south on N. Church Street toward West Main Street(Route 322). Police say there may be noticeable damage to the striking vehicle’s passenger side.
The mailman suffered arm and leg injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Ephrata Community Hospital.
Ephrata Police seek vehicle that struck mail carrier
The postal carrier, a 56-year-old man, was on his delivery route, crossing Church Street from east to west at the time he was struck.
After striking the carrier, the vehicle continued south on Church Street toward West Main Street. Police said the vehicle may have suffered noticeable damage on the passenger side. Parts of the vehicle were recovered at the scene by police.
