  1. JEEZUS, what is wrong with people? Acid on letter carriers now? What did we ever do to deserve that!? I know we have our problems but this is totally out of line. Maybe it’s some fried out meth freak or some scuzz like that. I hate to think about it, but I have a very rough route in a rough neighborhood in the most crime ridden city in my state. Because I have a really bad shoulder and back, I stay on it because it’s mounted, if you’re wondering why I don’t bid off. Also, other routes that do come open are not any better, so with one year left I’ll just stay where I am.
Nobody knows the people like letter carriers do. We deliver all manner of lawyer solicitations, see our customers names in the police records section of the newspaper, and in too many cases, I’ve watched some who are obvious meth users who nearly rot away in just a few years. One woman I swear who was nice looking once ended up looking like an old hag in just a matter of a couple years.
My point is that we are exposed to every element of danger there is. Carriers are seriously injured, murdered and wear themselves out after being at it for years. It’s a good job but people need to leave us alone and just let us work if we’re not at your house and handling your mail.
