Maryland letter carrier sent to hospital after getting rear-ended

Maryland letter carrier sent to hospital after getting rear-endedOn October 30, 2015 at approximately 4:10pm, Troopers from the Maryland State Police McHenry Barracks responded to Old Frostburg Rd at Beall School Rd in Frostburg, MD for a motor vehicle collision.

Investigation revealed a 1994 Chevrolet United States Postal Service mail delivery truck, operated by Ame Gomez (age 46 of Ellerslie, MD), was traveling north on Old Frostburg Rd, delivering mail. A 1996 Jeep Cherokee was also traveling north on Old Frostburg Rd and failed to slow, striking the USPS truck from behind. Gomez was transported by ambulance to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center as a result of injuries sustained.

The driver of the Jeep Cherokee, Andrew Hopkins (age 18 of Frostburg, MD), and his passenger were not injured. Hopkins was cited and released from the scene.
