Michigan postal worker pocketed cash, avoids jail

Michigan postal worker avoids jail for stealing over $10,000GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A postal employee who admitted to opening customer mail and stuffing her pockets with cash while working counters at two Kalamazoo County branches was sentenced Monday to probation and ordered to pay restitution.

Arianne Williams, 27, was sentenced exactly two years to the date she started working at the post office on Nov. 23, 2013.

She admitted to taking more than $10,000 from post office branches in Parchment and Arcadia Creek over a three-month span by voiding the sale of stamps and pocketing the cash.

The misappropriation of funds came to light in August, 2014; she left her post office job in late September.
