INDIANAPOLIS,IN Feb. 3, 2014 — Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America vehemently objects to any attempt to amend existing federal law and lift the ban on guns in post offices, as proposed by Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky. Sen. Paul’s amendment to the Senate postal reform bill would allow licensed gun owners to carry weapons inside post offices. Guns are currently banned in all American federal buildings, including post offices.
Sen. Paul is attempting to have the amendment included in a postal reform bill being debated by the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. Prior to the current ban on guns inside federal buildings, mass shootings at U.S. Post Offices were so frequent that the phrase “going postal” became a popular way to describe workplace violence in America.
“As mass shootings continue to trend upward in America, it is unthinkable that Sen. Paul would attempt to remove a ban on guns in a workplace where mass shootings have occurred,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “Moms will not sit idly by while our lawmakers pick apart existing common-sense gun laws. We will fight tooth-and-nail to help protect our children and families from senseless gun violence.”“There is simply no reason why post offices should be exempt from the ban on guns in federal buildings, especially given the history of shootings inside post offices,” said Watts.

I agree with Cset.
I am so glad I’m a life member of the NRA and NAGR so we can counteract all of these fools who continue to attempt to limit our rights. I gladly give my time and money to stop the “mad mommies”, Bloomberg’s mayor group (that they all keep bailing out of) and the rest the brain trust who feel my rights dont count as much as theirs do. Rural carrier is 100% right in what was proposed.
Actually what Sen Rand proposed is that CUSTOMERS with concealed carry permits be allowed to carry their guns rather than having to leave them in the car.
NO WHERE did he propose to allow workers to bring their weapons into the workplace.
Hey Senator Paul, why don’t you allow guns in the halls of Congress? The answer is, Congress would never allow just anyone to carry guns where our brilliant public representatives work. Yet some poor excuse for a man would allow guns were I work!
When a nut comes in the PO it would be great if a licensed employee had access to his/her weapon to stop the slaughter. There are a few restaurants and lounges in my state that do not permit those with a cwp to carry inside. I like most sane people see those places as advertising for robbers and murders to come in and cause trouble knowing there will be no one to stop them. Remember, when seconds count the police are only minutes away.
Sen. Rand Paul will never become anything more than a Sen. From Kentucky.
