More Village Post Offices Open across the Nation

More USPS VPOs opened including NY Deli with Postal Carrier distributing mail. Another VPO opens 8 miles from the city’s post office after hours were cut. There are  discussions about opening VPOs inside more libraries across the nation.

HORNBROOK, CA — A Village Post Office was added to Hornbrook Chevron on May 21, 2014.  Hornbrook, -located in Northern California and owned by Ranbir Singh-is the  only business and gas station in a 15-20 mile radius. Customers will be able to purchase Forever Stamps, drop off prepaid mail and packages and pick up free Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes and envelopes.

Hall of Fame Market & Deli Opens Village Post Office in Downey

DOWNEY, CA ― A Village Post Office was opened in Hall of Fame Market & Deli’s on May 22, 2014. Customers can purchase Forever stamps and ship prepaid Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes.  The hours are Monday through Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Sundays and holidays from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The selling point for opening a Village Post Office is that Hall of Fame Market & Deli should see increased customer visits and loyalty.

Stollings, WV — Saveway Foods -located on Hanging Rock Highway- opened a Village Post Office on April 11, 2014.  The Stollings Village Post Office – with operating hours Monday through Saturday 5 a.m. to Midnight and Sundays 8 a.m. to Midnight – offers sales of stamps and accepts pre-paid packages. The VPO also carries Expedited packaging (free Priority and Express Mail Flat-Rate boxes and envelopes) for mailing packages. Saveway Foods is a full-service grocery market.

WHITNEY, TX – On May 9, 2014 a new Village Post Office, (VPO) opened at Bonanza Country Grocery Store.
The Corner Store entered into a partnership with the Postal Service to provide Forever stamps and offer a variety of Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes and envelopes. They also accept postage-paid letters and packages for free carrier pickup.. The Bonanza Country Grocery Store is open Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Bonanza Country Grocery Store and new Village Post Office owner is Jackie Stockstill.

PREBLE, NY — On May 16, 2014, a Village Post Office opened in Uncle Tom’s Family Grocery and Deli. This Village Post Office at Uncle Tom’s Family Grocery and Deli is the first of its kind in Cortland County. Through the Postal Service’s VPO partnership with Uncle Tom’s Family Grocery and Deli a blue collection mailbox will be located right outside the store as well as at the Preble Post Office. Customers will receive a locked box for mail delivery at Uncle Tom’s, and will be keeping their existing PO box number and address. Mail distribution will be done by a postal carrier. Uncle Tom’s Family Grocery and Deli will be selling booklets of Forever stamps at face value, provide Priority Mail Flate Rate boxes and envelopes, and accept any postage-paid packages for mailing. Hours of operation of the VPO will be 6 :00 am to 8 :00 pm, 7 days a week.

Prairie, MS -The first Village Post Office  in Mississippi opened in Knox Grocery Store on May 21, 2014. The Knox Grocery will handle the sale of items such as stamps and flat-rate shipping boxes. There are also plans to set-up post office boxes outside the store where customers can rent space. The existing post office in Prairie lies about 8 miles from Know Grocery store. But the post office’s hours were slashed to four hours per day — 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday.  The Knox Grocery is open 7 days a week and postal services will be available with the exception of money orders.
