New MOU on Holiday Carrier Assistants in 2014
Sept. 23, 2014—The NALC and USPS have entered into the Memorandum of Understanding Re: Holiday Carrier Assistants – 2014 (M-01844). This MOU allows the Postal Service to begin hiring retired employees that wish to work during the upcoming four week December period. However, such employees shall not perform city letter carrier craft work prior to the four week December period in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding Re: Additional Resources – Holiday Carrier Assistant. Retired letter carriers in areas in need of holiday carrier assistants will be notified of these opportunities in the near future.
Let’s see, retired employees who been out of the service 15 years. Never experience the technological advances we have made they been out. Aches and pains will make a grown man cry, and they be driving the same vehicle they started out in, that’s now a broken down wreck. Hmmm sure be interesting to see how this will play! Lol

Are you coming back for a few weeks?
Monroe wants to know!!!!!!
Regarding the new route adjustment process, I hope it works better than the JRAP did. I got my route added to every time they reworked the routes, and my input was totally ignored. Not that I was surprised. But my office has long routes and the last time we were scheduled for a count and inspection they cancelled it at the 11th hour because they couldn’t bust up any routes. Management isn’t interested in cutting routes to eight hours – they’re interested in abolishing routes and can’t wait for more CCA’s who are trained to run like rabid banshees to go regular so we’ll be looking at the longest routes in postal history within five years. You read it here first.
Yes, I’m sure lots of retirees would love to work during the heaviest time of year during some of the shittiest weather, too, especially in the northern climes. Some probably will for some Christmas cash, but when they find out they’d only get CCA pay, that may change their minds. I can’t see the USPS paying them topped out wages for working three or four weeks. When I retire in a little over two years, the last place I’ll want to see is the operations area of any post office. When I retire, I will retire. If I want to keep working at the post office or anywhere, I’ll just stay on longer. Some like to do part time work or other after leaving the USPS, but that ain’t my cup of Joe.
the nalc is getting paid off by the usps. First they sell out the cca’s and now they have some crappy route adjustment bs and then they take away the carriers ot in December by hiring retirees. Merry xmas
If I am retired, and they call me, all I will say is, “You can’t afford me!”
WOW! So now they can hire “retirees” without the hassle of all thos benefits….go figure. Same pay?
