August 20, 2014 – Following the Aug. 19 release of the July Consumer Price Index (CPI), the fourth cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for letter carriers under the 2011-2016 National Agreement is $686 annually. This COLA was based on the increase in the CPI between January 2014 and July 2014. It amounts to 33 cents per hour. Under the terms of the 2011-2016 agreement, payment of this fourth cost-of-living adjustment will take effect in Pay Period 20 (pay date Sept. 26), the same pay period that the deferred second contract COLA will take effect.
The second cost-of-living adjustment for letter carriers under the 2011-2016 National Agreement was $541 annually. This second cost-of-living adjustment was based on the increase in the Consumer Price Index between January 2013 and July 2013. Combined, the two COLAs equal $1,227. This increase will be added to the salaries of all steps in Table 1 and Step O of Table 2, with proportionate application of the COLA to Steps A-N of Table 2.
Sorry we were talking about COLA’S right?…..yes, retirees do get a COLA
Hi Eric Cartman…do you mean something money-wise after retirement?? You will all get Social Security and the Postal Annuity, all based on what you made during your career…ALSO there’s the TSP, Thrift Savings Plan…This is a MUST..jump on this plan as soon as you can
do retirees get anything?
That’s right Greg..DOIS can be completely ignored!! it’s just an approximation based on visual estimations, except for DPS mail which is actually counted and FSA or FMA or whatever flats which also are counted..everything else is just a guess..Mgt. does not take into account ANY accountables, thin flats (unless you actually tell them) and weather. I think they finally gives us some time for parcels now..Now, that supervisor stating that he’ll (or she’LL) watch our every move with the new scanners…SO WHAT..you watch us 7 hours a day now..it won’t change a thing! I have no qualms about coming in 6 minutes late or an hour 6 minutes late..I’ve nothing to hide…watch the screen all you like, Sunshine..remember carriers..IT IS WHAT IT IS!!
It’s the new world we live in now, so we’ll have to deal with it. To “Supervisor”, I will guess you are a supervisor and not somebody being sarcastic, so here’s my response to you: you can’t use DOIS or scanner data as the sole tool for discipline regardless of the level of technology at your disposal. You will still have to go out and make street observations and you can’t hide and sneak around doing it.
So may we assume that prior to the new scanners coming in that you never watched anybody because you were too lazy to leave your heated or air conditioned office? Your attitude of presumed guilt on every carrier you supervise will turn around and bite you on the ass one of these days. When somebody lets it be known they don’t trust anybody, either they’ve been burned too many times or are completely untrustworthy themselves. Which one are you?
With the new scanners = less management since thats what the new scanners will be used for …..only if discipline and standard exactly exist in the Post Office
Hey sup. I’m sure your too lazy to do even that.
Why isn’t the cola from 2013 retroactive? Do the math. Just take. The carriers as an example. For the year 2013 the amount was $541 per carrier now times that by say 300,000 carriers that comes out to $167,300,000 not paid to the carriers. Why does the union allow this to go on?
They should have all supervisor that are like CCA’s .No health benefits ,retirement plan and life insurance plan .Y do we need supervisor when they don’t use “THEIR BRAINS” .They just put numbers in and the great OZ (DOIS) gives our BS return time. The supervisor can go home once they put the BS figures in.We could save billions and solve all our problems.GET RID OF THE DEAD WOOD.
You mean you’re gonna stay awake all day instead of your usual behavior?!
I will be watching your every move with the new scanners coming in.
Greg, DOIS can be *completely* ignored.
It cannot be used for anything. Seriously.
Do not set your workday according to it.
Talk to your steward.
would trade colas for a fair DOIS so I don’t think about suicide as much
