  1. Weather the arbitrator came up with the CCA position Rolando signed off on it. Now management treating CCA like slaves. Rolando also ask( give me five) I have not seen anything improve since he been in office except spending our money on lobbyists taking them out and expensive dinners. as a Stewart I file a grievance for CCA rights and went up to National DRTeam 5 month later still no response no time line for CCA grievances?? plus CCA pay more on union dues

  2. I am not that familiar with Noble’s relationship with the Union but he does bring one important issue to light about the way our working conditions have deteriorated over the years and getting worse. A lot of routes were lost and the other routes in our station became over burdened whether contested or not. Despite leaving mail in the office we are now required to pivot with overburdened routes. Carriers are being pushed to do more street functions with the same or less amount of time, it is just not possible to ignore any longer. It does not seem to matter if you do everything right by the book you are going to be harassed, intimidated and humiliated until it becomes a very serious issue to the Carriers health, well being and dignity. Management and labor are once again dealing with hostile issues on the work room floor, people are being abused and the Union can’t do anything about it because there is no agreement in place to address this issue. No matter who wins the National Officers positions I hope they hear what we are saying about working conditions of Carriers throughout the Postal Service, just ask them about their working conditions as related to workload/time and unfair treatment. A lot will say they love carrying mail and serving their customers but the hate the Postal Service and management for being treated so horribly. What we need is positive management from the top down because they are doing the same old stupid management stunts and trickery that have failed us for decades. We need positive constructive smart management from our leaders or we need contractual protections for maintaining good working conditions with less condemnation for trying to do our jobs to the best of our ability.

  3. Google up Noble. You’ll see a lot of what Bill Young says is correct. Noble is bitter and is trying his best to split this union and destroy it. Noble doesn’t have a playing interest in this union. His plan is not a plan. He will not just go in and demand what he wants and expect to get it. They’ll run him out of town. We’ll end up with nothing. If CCA’s are being treated pourly – shame on the shop steward. Most CCA’s in my office come to work with a smile and are eager to give a fair day’s work for a fair day’s pay. Management has not belittled any CCA in my building. We won’t allow it. How many PTF’s ran their routes, skipped their lunch and breaks, took short cuts and screwed up the mail. Heck – there are some regular’s who do the same thing. Shame on those who do. This union has fought hard for those rights/benefits. Is the CCA as good of a position as a PTF? No. Is a CCA as good or better of a position than a TE? Yes. The arbitrator split it down the middle as what most arbitrators do. No union get’s everything they want. No management get’s everything they want. I support the tireless effort our men and women in Washington and in Region 9 are doing for us. Vote for Rolando/O’Malley Team.

  4. yep TSP I sure am aware of the arbitration. Freddie and co agreed to the CCA position before it ever got to arbitration. Rolando doesn’t care that the CCA’s get no benefits, and now we can work them 7 days/week if they deliver packages on Sunday. And the reason why he agreed to this??- 30,000 potential new members….. it’s all about the $

  5. The TE program should have never been implemented . The PTF should be in place and the arrangement that fast Freddy and donut hole came up with the union due paying , part time , underpaid cca should never have been the resolution of arbitrator. !! ( it was all arranged before the round of golf rolando, donut hole and the arbitrator played . And than signed this outlandish contract into existence !! But all you bleeding hearts keep buying the line of crap that we are losing money , letter mail and whatever else the nobles come up with !

  6. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Sombrotto on several occasions. A mans man who took the time to shake hands with everyone in the room. It was the beginning of the end when he had to step down. I remember a time when our union delegates would show up at our office at least once a month usually more frequently, just to check in. I haven’t seen my delegate in months. Young made concessions to upper management to get us a few scraps at the bargaining table. Once that boulder starts rolling downhill, it’s tough to reverse the trend. I don’t see where Mr. Rolondo has accomplished much if anything in regards to working conditions. I don’t think Mr. Noble has much of a chance, but I can’t see this downward spiral changing anytime soon under current “leadership”.

  7. carrier chuck, you are aware that the contract that brought in cca’s was decided via arbitration………..right ?

  8. Get rid of DOIS and MSP is not a detailed plan. Promote CCAs to regular is not a detailed plan. Some posters claim that present NALC leadership is out of touch because of how long it’s been since they last delivered mail. According to his own statements, candidate Noble hasn’t delivered mail since before some of our newer carriers were even born. Candidate Noble couldn’t even get himself elected as a delegate to the last national convention. He appealed but didn’t even make a presentation to support his appeal. That says a lot for his tenacity? Anyone who claims appeals aren’t worth the effort should remember that a brother from one of the New York branches had his appeal upheld by the convention delegates.

  9. well said Fossil…. the union sold us out in this last contract, especially the CCA’s. I don’t care how anybody spins it. Rolando had his own agenda. I have written to him in the past, and I did get a response back. He is quite arrogant, and didn’t even answer the questions I asked. Got a bunch of “we need to stand together” B.S.

  10. Just a quick little not for Fossil. Excellent and well thought out post! Keep the swearing out though. Kind of takes a bit out of your substance.

  11. Union didn’t agree to the current CCA position. The arbitrator came up with that one. Had he not, postal management was going to do away with all TE’s. Their terms expired with contract. The union pushed to have them made PTF’s. The arbitrator split the difference. Is it ideal, no, but they do have jobs now.

  12. I will repeat what I’ve said before , the last 7 + years the union leaders and nba’s all the way to regional reps have had 7% increases (annually )!! How does this happen? While the letter carrier , who bleeds in the battle field gets a 4.5 % increase for the 5 year contract !! Horse shit. !!
Management now is giving all overtime to cca carriers ( from odl carriers ) and bleeding the career carrier dry !!
Looks as though we have been sold out at the last arbitrated contract and the prefund which is as corrupt of an idea by bush and bill young as we have ever encountered , time for a clean sweep my friends ,!!
Brothers and sisters , this next contract we should be rewarded with a 7.5 wage increase for all the work now dumped on us daily and forced to listen to your am supervisor telling u that you r under time !!

  13. Gilbert Jackson, you are aware that the contract that brought in cca’s was decided via arbitration…………..right ?

  14. fossil, you are aware that the contract that brought in cca’s was decided via arbitration………..right ?

  15. I’m flattered that I’ve been chosen to be impersonated by some.

    LMAO, thanks Hunter !

  16. Silly Fmr. President Young. His video helps to elevate challenger Noble. I hope Noble gets many votes. Young shluld be neutral. I did wish we that both candidates for President had chance to address convention.

  17. yeah I’ll vote for Noble because I believe the Union has ignored the joke that we call DOIS for to long and has looked the other way towards carriers getting harassed over the time they need to complete their appointed rounds!!

  18. The current Union Leaders have to do something about CCA’s…..They are slaves to the Postal Service and Managers….The Union should have never agreed to them as a level of employment……………State and National Officers have lost touch with the working carriers on the street…………When is the last time any of them carried 3rd bundle, used a scanner on parcels etc, curbed the wheels when parking each time they stop a LLV, even at that when is the last time they drove a LLV…………NALC is on a slow slide to ruin……….

  19. I was very active in the NALC in my humble little state where only two branches even matter vote wise, and because of that and the fact the other states in the Region all have much larger cities where one can completely outvote my state my efforts were in vain, to say the least. I have met the late President Sombrotto albeit briefly, spent more time with Bill Young, who I must say is very approachable and at least didn’t distance himself from the rank and file, and met Rolando once or twice and found him to be aloof and generally disinterested, as though I was wasting his time.
But personalities aside, I feel the NALC has screwed the pooch in a few critical areas, and I am not one for voting the grand party line in this instance, and I didn’t. I doubt David Noble has the answers either, but the upper echelon of the NALC is management, too, regardless of what they say otherwise. From the DRT on up, it’s all buddy buddy good old boy horseshit, pandering for soft jobs and paying attention only to mega branches.
My view means nothing, but I pay my dues, and am therefore entitled to voice my opinion. First:

DRT: Yes, the grievance arbitration backlog was enormous, with the USPS management relying on the mountain of delayed grievances to basically do whatever they wanted, knowing decisions would be sometimes years in being made. However, the new Dispute Resolution Process, while on paper looked promising and did clear a huge backload of grievances, it quickly became a politicized function and thousands of carriers including several from my branch were royally screwed in decisions that were so ridiculous it was stunning at times. Many many NALC officers I have spoken with all told stories of DRT teams being told how to rule by NBA’s for their own political concerns, and that included ruling against branches based on poor personal relationships between branch officers and the NBA’s, who used sabotage through DRT’s to try to force officers out by their own branches. This is rampant, I truly believe, and I wholeheartedly demand DRT members be rotated, and not just picked because of branch size or personal advantages. Solving grievances quickly means nothing if you lose, and keeping grievances low is the only thing the union seems to care about and screw the facts and merits of the case.
CCA: Here we really bit the big one, paving the way for a whole new body of carriers who are underpaid, scared shitless by management who can remove them every year with almost no help from the NALC, do not receive training on handling mail properly, leaving routes in total chaos, mail returned that shouldn’t be, etc. because they run, skip lunches, and refuse to take the time to even look at a vacant slip in a mailbox because management only wants good numbers, fuck the customer and the regular carrier, who is a goof off anyway, and good riddance to his or her tired ass when they leave. The minimum wage anti union movement won a huge victory here, just to get help in a short amount of time. While in principle I agree that we mustn’t get greedy and stupid that would put our employer out of business and us out of work, we have gone too far in the conciliatory direction knowing damn good and well how corrupt current top level management is. I submit that long time DRT’s, RAA’s, NBA’s and other full time NALC employees have been out of the loop on the street as it were for a long time. The CCA program should be killed and replaced with the old PTF model, which gave carriers real representation immediately after their probation and guaranteed their futures as long as those carriers didn’t do stupid stuff.
THE PMG: We have been as spineless as a bowl of noodles when it comes to dealing with Pat Donahoe, easily the most destructive and corrupt Postmaster General in the history of the institution. Face it: you can write letters all day to Congress and “urge” them to do this or do that, but we are vastly out contributed by those who would shut us down, especially people like Darryl Issa and Donahoe, his butt boy. Therefore, we have failed by not being vocal enough in informing the public what is happening. While one must tread carefully when levying accusations in public, there is enough damning evidence out there that should be aired, and the public has shown to be amazingly responsive to the threats of not getting mail. We are dropping the ball, leaving the protests up to the customer and their individual legislators, when we should be making political capital of this fact.
I don’t expect any response, but at least I offered a solution when I bitched about it.

  20. Union officer = crook. These guys hated carrying mail and what better way to get out of that than become a union officer. Go to a state or national convention. Look at the rooms these jokers get on the memberships dime. The petty cash they get for expenses. It is nothing but a drunk fest.

  21. Young retired and left carriers with no remedy for oig snooping on our physicians (affecting treatment). He also did nothing about the non-use of the 12 hour part of the overtime list: forcing non volunteer carriers to work massive amounts of overtime for years, which led to injuries. The 12 hour list was, is and always has been part of the contract: LEGAL document. And when non volunteers asked the union , under Young’s leadership to grieve the forced overtime, the only remedy ever given was to OTHER carriers as a cash remedy for their “lost overtime opportunity.” All the while the contract had a clause requiring management to prvide approriate staffing levels. Management was allowed to bully nonvols while the union looked on and did nothing. Same with DOIS, despite a nationally arbitrated settlement against bullying carriers using DOIS, the union ignores the issue.

  22. If Pete feels this way then he should promote the new active candidates. I personally feel all these officers are out of touch with the work force. 15-20 years ago they walked with us, but since then they stopped fighting for us and only for themselves.

  23. Do you see what these Union officers make. They make more than everyone in the postal service except the Postmaster General. Do they care about the workers? I doubt it. Get rid of them and watch productivity go up!!

  24. Only mistake Former President Vincent Sombroto ever made was to make this joker Young a President. He should have never been allowed to be President of the N.A.L.C.. I respect the position but not the person. If he had any sense he should give back all the money he took from the N.A.L.C.! I guess he also was paid off by the Rolando ticket, but how much did he get, or did he do it just to be remembered.

  25. All union officers are useless. The union is not doing anything for the carriers. I just don’t think
the union is doing anything, Period !!!
