NALC President Fredric Rolando has released the following statement on the status of a new joint effort to identify and address safety issues for letter carriers and service to postal customers:
“We have been in constant discussions with postal management at Headquarters to further develop the program to identify and address factors that contribute to unsafe work environments for letter carriers, whether during daylight hours or after dark, as well as to address issues that affect service to customers, such as routine delivery after traditional delivery hours. Our discussions have been productive thus far. We have agreed to send capable, joint teams into areas experiencing these safety and service issues. These joint teams will evaluate every factor possibly causing the issues and will work hard to develop lasting solutions that improve the safety of letter carriers and service to our customers.” More information will be available in the near future.
” we have been in constant discussions with management at headquarters ” COME ON MAN !!! People getting shot, robbed, humiliated, customers mail being less secure is happening all over the country. What discussion!! Some letter carrier’s are out more than 3 hours after dark. Stop it NOW !!!
23.44 a pay check for nothing…..Keep paying suckers….Waste of money….
Translation: “We’re doing nothing for the dues paying members, other than lip service. But thanks for paying our salaries !”
Check the plants to see when final processing has been accomplished. ?…Then cross check when mail is dispatched to the stations…..This is where you will find why mail is received late….Not enough contract trucks to deliver all the mail in a timely manner, especially on high volume days when getting the mail is critical to getting carriers off the streets at a resonable hour…
.Also Postal Service has never had extra vehicles for CCA’S to drive and carry drags, this would free up regulars to come in on off days…let the CCA’S carry the excess, and get everyone home at decent hour.
The Northern New Jersey District Manager had her last day today.
Our Postmaster and Supervisors where dancing in the aisles today.
Tomorrow we are getting coffee & donuts on them!!!!!!!!!!
Better to come!
I frankly don’t see how any discussion with management can be considered productive. The NALC should be much more insistent on moving start times back and encourage safety grievances until one is filed that can be up for a national interpretation. How many more members will be robbed or killed while management steadfastly refuses to do anything to protect its carriers and the NALC does so little?
Andrew, I’d say you nailed the jelly to the tree !
When the Carrier safety teams go out and see a problem they discuss it with the Carrier and it is productive. The Carrier is made aware of things he can do better to keep himself safe. When the Management teams go out they are looking for things that they can discipline the Carrier for. They are the reason moral is so low in the Postal Service. They watch you every second praying you make any mistake at all so they can pounce on you for it.
Not to sound rude and not badmouthing any employees. But let’s look at the facts.
1) How many vacant routes are there nationwide?
2) Why is the mail never ready in the mornings?
2) Didn’t this start after plant consolidations started?
3) How’s morale in the post office? Managers come down on employees because higher ups don’t let them manage.
Come on people. Union lovers and Union haters all know that when there is not enough manpower to do a job, its not going to be all flowers and candy.
