Postal Worker Charnell Haymond, age 25, was charged in April, 2014 with felony injuring public records, in order to defraud the state out of more than $16,000. Haymond stole personal information while she was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and then fraudulently filing a state tax return  to steal $16,180 from Louisiana.
Judge Louis Daniel of the 19th Judicial District Court in Baton Rouge sentenced Haymond to five years in prison, which was suspended, and placed on three years of supervised probation with the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections. The conditions of her probation include paying the state $16,180 in restitution and 50 hours of community service.

“This case should serve as a strong reminder that fraudulent tax activities will not be tolerated,” said Secretary of Revenue Tim Barfield.
