New York postal worker diagnosed with TB

Tuberculosis_symptoms

ALBANY, NY (NEWS 10) – A part time United State Postal Service employee has been diagnosed with pulmonary Tuberculosis.

The employee, whose name is being withheld, worked at facilities in Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, and Saratoga Counties.

Exposure to tuberculosis results in illness in only a small number of healthy people. Tuberculosis is a bacterial disease that is most often completely curable with medications. It is not considered to be as highly communicable as some other infectious diseases like the flu or measles.

The Health Department is conducting an investigation to determine any potential risk for contact with this individual and will work closely with the Postal Service medical staff to contact any potentially exposed individuals and be providing screening tests for these individuals.

  1. This is not the first place this has happened LAX ISC. has had this twice in the last 4 or 5 years and most recently in 2015 they don’t care about there employees there are lots of people waiting to replace YOU ME AND ANY ONE so don’t feel left out good luck usps employees.

  2. Yeah, well, that’s what happens when you hire undocumented aliens.

We went through this in NYC about 35 years back: the worker was documented, but the documents belonged to his cousin. All regular employees in the facility (and it was a HUGE facility, the one found to be contaminated with anthrax in 2001, 2002, AND 2003) were offered medical attention paid for by USPS; the PTFSs and 90-day wonders were on their own….

  3. Looks like its time for the “Don’t Breathe the Air in your Postal Facility” stand up safety talk this week.
