GREENSBORO—A Greensboro man will receive big recognition Tuesday from the U.S. Postal Service for achieving a rare milestone.
Richard Herring has worked at the Greensboro processing and distribution center for 50 years.
He was honored for his accomplishment at the end of the “midnight” shift, where he has worked his entire career.
Postal Service officials and Herring’s coworkers gathered Tuesday morning to pay tribute to his half-century on the job. Herring said he found out about the celebration on Friday when a relative called him.
Herring will celebrate his 75th birthday in September.
