I know there are “workers” in my facility (P&DC) who will call in sick on their scheduled days, then come in to work RDOs for overtime pay, that could certainly be controlled better. I have also read a Facebook posting by James S, Wong (mail handler group) in which he goes over just how much late collection mail costs, just in his processing facility. We don’t realize the chain reaction caused by late collection mail and how much it costs due to required overtime. This is probably the target which our new PMG is aiming at. With just a little effort and planning, this problem can be greatly reduced!

The USPS is a necessary service for the public. It would be stupid to defund the postal service. Already I’m not getting my mail everyday bc of some changes. At least one -and sometimes two days of delivery are missed in a 2 week span. Not sure if that’s a deliberate slowdown to show the public what it will be like with less $support from the govt or if it is a direct result of the changes in structure already being implemented…
The USPS is not capable of handling this year’s election mail. I was in management for 22 years and I can assure you that the USPS is the worst run business in the US. Any procedure that will diminish overtime is always heralded by the union as a way to “undermine” the Postal Service. If the American people knew how much money was paid out to the unions in grievance money and knew of the overtime paid out, they would be shocked and demanding reform. Their needs to be a major overhaul of the Postal Service.
Why didn’t you do any changes in your 22 year service?
Tell it Sydney.
