November 22, 2014 – Utica, NY – A letter carrier was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated on Saturday in Utica, NY, police said.
On Saturday, November 22 around 5:00 p.m., Utica Police Department officers were called to the Pitcher St. station of the U.S. Postal service for an accident. The UPD Officer spoke with a Postal Employee who was concerned about one of the employees ability to drive. The Officer learned that an employee was pulling her mail truck into a parking space when she hit another mail truck.
Police allege after the accident in the parking lot, Samantha Reile, 42, of Frankfort, NY was falling down and reportedly smelled of alcohol. UPD Officers conducted an investigation, and during that investigation learned that the driver had a blood alcohol level, or BAC. of .25 % more than three times the normal legal limit of .08. The limit for a driver of a commercial vehicle is .04 percent.
Reile was arrested and charged with 2 counts of DWI and aggravated DWI both misdemeanors.
Reile, a letter carrier, has been employed by the postal service since 2006, according to USPS records.
