The NYPD lieutenant who supervised the cursing plainclothes cops who arrested an on-duty postal worker in Brooklyn earlier this month has been stripped of his badge and gun, the Daily News has learned.
Lt. Luis Machado was placed on modified duty in connection with the embarrassingly volatile clash between cops and postal employee Glen Grays in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
Machado and three cops were zipping along in an unmarked car on March 17 when they nearly struck Grays postal truck, officials said.
Grays shouted at the driver, who threw the car in reverse and screamed back at the mail carrier.

CBSNewYork reports: The supervising lieutenant was placed on modified assignment. His badge and gun were taken and he was assigned to desk duty. The three officers with the lieutenant at the time remain on full duty but are out of plainclothes and back to uniform patrol.
Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams noted last week that the NYPD could be in trouble for leaving the mail truck unattended.
“I believe there were federal violations. Number one, leaving that truck unsecured. Number, two, interrupting the delivery of mail. There are clear NYPD procedures when you are arresting a federal employee,” he said. “We don’t know if even those basic procedures were followed.”
note: What happened to the mail truck after the letter carrier was arrested? There are no news reports on USPS sending any employees to the scene to secure the mail truck.
That’s how the police officers should have acted when they should be doing their jobs: arresting neighborhood gang members and “cow boy’ punks who beat, rob, and sometimes kill honest mail carriers in those forsaken neighborhoods of NYC! It’s a tough “making a living” for those brave hard working mail carriers in crime infested neighborhoods. Come on NYPD,don’t attack mail carriers, protect them for the bad guys!
This why people really really hate the police.
Pigs out of control with guns.
They should have been fired. Shitbums all of ’em.
What devastating discipline the pudwacker gestapo cops received! Now the tax payers will foot the bill for the gestapo cops actions. Every time the cops screw up, the tax payers are the ones that are disciplined. Example, in Chicago, Commander Jon Burge so far has cost the city of Chicago $98 million. Jon Burge only spent four years in the joint for perjury. To stop the cops, start making them pay for damages, not the tax payers.
I cant seem to find the whole story. Is it, the plain clothes officers sped by the postal workers vehicle, barely missing the postal vehicle, the USPS employee Glen then yells something at the cops (not knowing their cops) the officers then arrest Glen? For what actually? Surely this is not the whole story. Something so minor. Since I have not read anywhere that Glen did anything illegal, just doing his job and upset over possibly a side swiped vehicle then gets harassed, taken away from his route, an abandoned USPS mail truck (absolute big violation) in the process, interference of postal duties, obstruction of mail deliveries. They (cops) might not think this is a big deal, but it would get a postal employee FIRED and possible fines with jail with no questions asked if the employee created such a scenario. I would get the best attorney and do a media blitz on the issue!
The “officers made the arrest shortly after Grays told them off for nearly hitting him with their unmarked police car, which passed him as he was trying to cross President Street near Franklin Avenue on his mail route last Thursday.” He was crossing the street and not in his vehicle.
When they get fired from the police department there is always a supervisor position for them @ the good old Post Office . They seem like future leaders there .
I’m not an embarrassment to the PO.
That’s it?! What a joke! So he get’s assigned desk duty….for how long? Whoopeedo! And the other 3 have to wear their uniforms. Which from my understanding, they were suppose to have them on anyway. Wow!!! That’s some tough punishment. We get worse than that for missing a DPS scan at the Post Office. Job is hard enough without a bunch of small yahoo cops with power issues making it harder. Demanding to see his ID when he has he postal blues on, with a marked truck, while delivering packages! Seriously?! Where the heck are their badges and uniforms? Fire their butts! They are out of control! If he had resisted, he’d be dead.
That is some discipline. Put him on light duty with full pay.
The big question is Is Mr Grays consulting a lawyer to sue the bastards for this insulting arrest? Maybe he is waiting for the disorderly charge to be dismissed before suing.A disgrace that this incident had to happen by incompetent cops who were full of themselves, acting like they ruled the world ,abusing their authority.Keep them where they are so they won’t be an embarrassment to the police dept. any longer.
