PETERSBURG, Va. – The mail carrier accused of dumping months’ worth of mail into a Petersburg dumpster has been identified.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Richmond has identified the former Petersburg Postal Worker as Ryan L. Hooker.
Hooker knowingly and willfully obstructed the passage of mail by discarding mail entrusted to him in his capacity instead of delivering it to the addressed recipients, according to court documents.
Hooker plead guilty to one count of delay or destruction of mail on February 8. He was sentenced to 12 months’ probation and a $250 fine.
On March 23, Hooker was charged with an additional charge of obstructing the passage of mail.
looks like a blast from the past when IOD Muffin Meaghan Brennen used to deliver……may have gotten got hurt trying to get it in the dumpster…..in my humble estimation.
The new work force is terrible this country is just starting to see the beginning of what the cell phone has created when it comes to employee work habits. Glad to be retiring in a couple more years right now just making a ton of money because these pse losers wont come to work or when they do they cant put the phone in their pocket long enough to do anything. Also fmla is the worst thing to ever happen to the post office, everyone has it, these doctors need sued like they are going after the drug makers for overdose problems.
Probably related to some management toolbag. Maybe
had evidence against his/her supervisors. Scan before
delivered. Time card fraud. Changing color codes. Goes on
everywhere. Fire them all
fish rots from the head down………..loss last 11 years….answer from po mismanagement….pour more money down the rat hole. I say carve it up between FDX, UPS,DHL, AMZN, & GOOGLE…………be in the black in no time.
got off easy? Hillary Clinton got off easy!
Probation and a measly $250 fine? Most peoples’ speeding tickets are more than that when you figure in your speed and court costs! This carrier wasn’t identified as a CCA or a regular. Lots of CCA’s were given unassigned regular positions as a part of the last NALC National Agreement, but one thing is certain: we do not need lazy stupid asses like this in the system, period.
One post like this can make viewers of the newscast or readers here run all carriers down as the same types of jerks this one is. I’m retired, but I, like thousands of other career carriers who had truly put their time in and earned their stripes, myself with 32+ years, and others a lot more, knew the CCA program would be a disaster and management at the higher levels simply were not listening.
CCA’s work for a lot less pay, terribly long hours and sometimes weeks without a day off. They are underpaid, sometimes treated like shit by management and the NALC officers, and the turnover rate has skyrocketed as a result.
Many are dishonest and have terrible attitudes, like a lot of younger workers today. They think the USPS owes them something special, not considering the paycheck, and that merely showing up is good enough. A lot of younger career employees are the same, although in the interest of full disclosure I know a lot of long time carriers who were pieces of shit, too. No workplace is without at least a handful.
Now, I see carriers on the street in the city where I live but didn’t work with long dirty scraggly hair, half or no uniform, looking like a bunch of tramps. Where did professionalism go? We are a public service and I always thought it was imperative letter carriers and window clerks dressed properly with full uniforms, neat appearance and images. I tried to look my best at all times, while some I worked with looked like they soaked their uniforms in a dumpster full of grease for a couple days before wearing them, full of holes, stains and looked like absolute shit.
Add to that city carriers driving these horrendously beat up LLV’s, with paint wearing off into the primer, decals and vehicle numbers worn off, cracked windows and mirrors, and unsafe at any speed.
With idiots who can’t or won’t do a respectable job and screw customers over by dumping their mail or working so slow they can never finish their entire route without some CCA or overtime carrier bailing their sorry asses out regardless of how easy the day is, or looking like rejects from the sanitation department, our image is suffering. It is really bizarre how easy this guy got off. It does nothing to discourage other terrible carriers from doing the same thing.
I say to these types: if you hate your job, can’t do it, or have zero respect for the customer’s mail you are entrusted to deliver and take care of, get the hell out. You are only a drag on the service, and union officers who bail your sorry asses out when you don’t deserve it and managers who never try to make you do your fair share of the work only exacerbate the situation. I was an NALC steward/president for 17 years, and while I fought like a wildcat against bad management and unfair treatment, it always got my goat to have to defend some of these liars and piss poor workers. It’s part of the job, but just the same I’m not missing it one damn bit.
You are right the standards have surely slipped. I am not claiming to be
Gods gift to mail delivery , but for a kid with a gun shot wound to my
left lung, and liver. I believe if you try as I know you did. Things are going
to work out more than not. My Great Granddad was a mailman and even
thou he was no longer on this earth. I represented him when I served the
public.
Sadly a slap on the wrist!!
What a shame he got away with this
