Pittsburgh’s postmaster has been charged with intimidating four subordinates in an effort to cover up his illegal opening of express mail packages, some of which contained drugs, at the East Liberty station over the past year, according to a criminal complaint made public today.
Daniel P. Davis, 50, of Canonsburg, was charged by the Allegheny County district attorney’s office with obstructing administration of law or other government function and four counts each of intimidation of witnesses or victims, criminal coercion and official oppression.
Detectives wrote in an affidavit that Mr. Davis threatened several subordinates — even telling one, Donna Clay, a customer service supervisor in the Hazelwood office, that he would kill her — who had become aware that he was opening express mail packages at locations throughout Allegheny County.
Mavin Parker, the U.S. Postal Service’s manager of customer service in Pittsburgh and a 30-year Postal Service employee who is currently off work, told investigators that she confronted Mr. Davis last year after seeing him open an express mail package. Several employees told Ms. Parker that they, too, had seen the same thing, and that Mr. Davis had threatened them, according to the affidavit.

Pittsburgh Postmaster Accused Of Opening Mail, Threatening Employees
I got in trouble for talking.{delaying the mail}.
he just earned himself a promotion.
there is your affirmative action scam at work! game the system instead of trying to improve the system. liberalism is a mental disorder!
I need a tall one, remote control, and to see what Donald has to say tonight.
he is just the tip of the iceberg, supervisor’s of Letter Carriers in most cases are incompetent, crazy and have no people skills.
On his way to bigger and better things. They protect as well as eat their own you
know. Just another EAS dirtbag who couldn’t supervise their way out of a paper
bag if it had openings on both ends.
He l will most likely be promoted to higher level. If the Postal Service ever prosecutes him, and he is convicted, he should be made to spend the rest of his time as a carrier! He could go from the easy life to working like a trained circus animal. What justice!
Those express mail packages often are full of drug cash going the other way. Depending on how this shakes out it might be worth it in the long run. Come to my facility and I can introduce you to two SDO’s caught stealing mail still employed by the service years later.
Kiss you $105K job goodbye, SOB!
Where are the Postal Inspectors on this and why weren’t charges file in Federal Court where this case belongs. And what about mail theft charges, which is a Federal offense?
That only applies when a CRAFT employee does something like this!
Wow
Is this a case of a self proclaimed detective or a member of the mob making sure drugs get thru.
What a dumbo
Good grief! What a piece of sh.., and a high level manager to boot. It seems for every carrier who dumps mail or does something stupid, there’s a management type who makes similar idiotic moves, and because letter carriers at least outnumber managers probably three or four to one, on the city side, that indicates the proportion of managers doing this kind of shit is much much higher than craft.
Do the math.
How will the Service whitewash this one? Will he be arrested or at least fired for threatening employees and tampering with mail, not to mention the possibility of being a drug pusher? Or will management do like they’re infamous for doing, promoting him and reassigning him elsewhere? Management suffers from a terrible image amongst everybody – the craft, the public, most of whom know the USPS’ woes are the fault of idiots in Districts and Area, Congress, who gets lied to by PMG’s on a regular basis, hell, just about everybody but themselves and management wanna be’s.
My advice to management: you better can this SOB and file charges against him if for no other reason than to take the heat off your asses for allowing him to be one of you in the first place. Nice screening.
Time to let me in the “Hiring/ firing” role! This company needs a complete enema!!! Our Post Master (female) was a bully, she was physical with several craft employees, got the USPS into a multi-million law suit with a HUGE Co-Op, lied, falsified documents, adjusted time clock rings to avoid penalty OT, sexually harassed a male clerk in another office while she was detailed to a function 4 position. Was physical with several other craft employee while on the same detail at several other Post Offices. NOTHING happened until the wife of the male clerk whom she sexually harassed called HR and blew a casket!
They simply moved her to another Post Office in the next district when she should have been canned!!!
