PMG Megan Brennan appoints David E. Williams as new Chief Operating OfficerDavid E. Williams steps into #2 slot at USPS

On February 4, 2015, the United States Postal Service announced the appointment of David E. Williams to the position of Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Williams succeeds Megan J. Brennan.

Since July 2010, Mr. Williams served as Vice President, Network Operations, overseeing the national network of mail processing and distribution centers and automation initiatives.

Previously, from September 2009 to July 2010, he served as Vice President, Engineering, managing all engineering and development efforts focused on internal processes, including building and equipment maintenance programs and policies. Additionally, he directed all engineering and acquisition support functions, including the design and development of new automation, material handling systems, and vehicles.

Before becoming an officer of the Postal Service, Mr. Williams served in numerous positions with the Postal Service. At Postal Service Headquarters, from January 2005 to September 2009, he served as the Manager, Processing Operations, Manager, Processing Center Operations, and Manager, Processing and Distribution Center Operations.

From August 2001 to January 2005, he served as Manager, Systems Integration Support. In the field, Mr. Williams served as the Manager of the Processing and Distribution Center in Atlanta, Georgia, from November 2000 to August 2001, the Manager of the Processing and Distribution Center in Duluth, Georgia, from October 1996 to November 2000, and as the Manager of the Processing and Distribution Center in Birmingham, Alabama, from May 1995 to October 1996.

When he first joined the Postal Service as a professional specialist trainee, from June 1987 to May 1995, Mr. Williams worked in various support roles including management intern, operations programs analyst principal, and operations support specialist. Mr. Williams holds a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial and systems engineering from the University of Florida and a Master’s degree in business administration from the College of William and Mary.

Mr. Williams will be entitled to an annual gross salary of $241,870, paid in biweekly installments. Mr. Williams will be eligible for all benefits provided to officers of the Postal Service pursuant to standard Postal Service policy and practice. These benefits include annual leave, sick leave, life and health insurance and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan and the Federal Employees Retirement System.

Another dumba that never touched a piece of mail or worked the window great choice, why dont you find a person that has experience in working the window or on the work floor maybe they could give you some insight as to the real world of the U.S.P.S. When you have small town post offices only open from 8am to 11am close untill 1pm and reopen untill 4pm how can anyone use these offices. Open your eyes and give the public a service they can use or staff the offices that are open 8am to 5.30pm.

  2. So he never did basic ‘someone breathing down’ your neck work with the USPS. He has worked for years promoting automation, we are doomed
