Police in several Delaware County municipalities are looking for a bandit who wore a plastic mask resembling the deceased actor Peter Sellers as “Inspector Clouseau” while robbing a bank and two post offices between Wednesday and Thursday.
The suspect is responsible for attempted heists at the Yeadon and Darby Borough post offices on Wednesday and the robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank on Baltimore Pike in Springfield on Thursday morning, police said.
In all three, he was wearing a distinctive rubber mask resembling the bumbling police inspector from the “Pink Panther” movies.
The suspect handed an employee of the Yeadon Post Office a demand note announcing a robbery and implying he had a weapon. In Darby, he also displayed a weapon, police said. In both instances, the post office clerks ran, and the suspect fled without any cash.
