Postal employees recovering from Oklahoma Tornado:

The devastating tornado that struck outside Oklahoma City, OK on Monday, killed at least 24 people, including nine children, though the figures may rise as more are confirmed dead. Region 4 Regional Administrative Assistant Dan Versluis reports that according to Branch 458 in Oklahoma City the Moore OK station took an indirect hit. While it is too early to assess the damage and communication is difficult, it appears that all carriers’ personal vehicles in the Moore Post Office parking lot were destroyed. Several carriers suffered damage to, or total loss of, their homes but all letter carriers are accounted for and thus far there are no reports of injury or loss of life involving carriers. The storm system behind Monday’s twister threatens a large portion of the country on Tuesday, particularly parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. “When a storm like this hits, we must match its ferocity with our own generosity,” NALC President Fredric Rolando said. “Please contribute to the Postal Employees Relief Fund, to help our brothers, sisters and co-workers rebuild after this tragedy.” You can contribute to PERF here.
