A note today from the U.S. Postal Service to Lead and Deadwood mail customers – Never mind.
Earlier this week, the Postal Service announced centralized mail delivery would replace direct delivery to one-fourth of Lead-Deadwood homes and businesses starting in October. The change responded to safety issues for carriers after seven injuries in three years.
On Thursday, however, spokesman Peter Nowacki said the Postal Service had postponed the change for additional studies.
There is no deadline for a decision. So it will be mail delivery as usual in Lead-Deadwood.
