Postal Worker killed in Illinois crash

The accident occurred about 12:35 p.m. on Youngs Road, just south of Cavalea Drive in unincorporated Channahon Township, about 7 miles southwest of Joliet, according to the Will County sheriff’s office.

The driver was heading southbound on Youngs Road when he drove off the roadway onto the shoulder, then went back across the center line, striking a northbound Culligan water truck head-on, sheriff’s spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said.

Daniel M. McGuire, 48, of Channahon, a Rural Carrier Associate since 2012, was pronounced dead at the scene, the Will County Coroner’s office said. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.

  1. Hey NALC! This unfortunate carrier was killed because he probably was forced to RUN. If he doesn’t run he gets fired. The NALC should turn in it’s union card you are a disgrace to the meaning of the word union. Hey regulars, keep paying union dues, and enjoy the screwing you get everyday.

  2. wait till winter. get the mail out no matter what, in 30 yr. old trucks. where’s the carrier buyout? is it because the c.c.a.’s keep quitting and all the young carriers get into management?
