Postmaster General Louis DeJoy Modifies Organizational Structure to Support USPS Mission

WASHINGTON, DC — In an effort to operate in a more efficient and effective manner and better serve customers, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy today announced a modified organizational structure for the U.S. Postal Service.

The new organization will align functions based on core business operations and will provide more clarity and focus on what the Postal Service does best; collect, process, move and deliver mail and packages.

The new organizational structure is focused on three business operating units:

  • Retail and Delivery Operations — basic mission: Accept and deliver mail and packages efficiently with a high level of customer satisfaction. This organization will be led by Kristin Seaver.
  • Logistics and Processing Operations –— basic mission: Process and move mail and packages efficiently to the delivery units, meeting service standards. This organization will be led by David Williams.
  • Commerce and Business Solutions — basic mission: Leverage infrastructure to enable growth. This organization will be led by Jacqueline (Jakki) Krage Strako.

DeJoy also announced the appointment of Scott Bombaugh as acting Chief Technology Officer, Steve Monteith as acting Chief Customer and Marketing Officer, and Pritha Mehra as acting Chief Information Officer. For the complete executive leadership team, please see about.usps.com/who/leadership/officers/.

“This organizational change will capture operating efficiencies by providing clarity and economies of scale that will allow us to reduce our cost base and capture new revenue,” said Postmaster General and CEO Louis DeJoy. “It is crucial that we do what is within our control to help us successfully complete our mission to serve the American people and, through the universal service obligation, bind our nation together by maintaining and operating our unique, vital and resilient infrastructure.”

As part of the modified organizational structure, logistics and mail processing operations will report into the new Logistics and Processing Operations organization separate from existing area and district reporting structures. This includes all mail processing facilities and local transportation network offices. Splitting operations into these two organizations is designed to allow for improved focus and clear communication channels.

These organizational changes do not initiate a reduction-in-force, and there are no immediate impacts to USPS employees. However, to prepare for future changes, the Postal Service has implemented a management hiring freeze and will be requesting future Voluntary Early Retirement Authority from the Office of Personnel Management for employees not represented by a collective bargaining agreement.

  1. Mr. Fed up, how do you know the annuities won’t be cut! Our fat draft dodger hero would love to cut the retirements and health care from everyone, and you know it. He is the idiot that wants to have the Supreme Court take away the Affordable Care Act during a health crisis. So I’m retarded. I didn’t vote for a raving liar, someone that said” take bleach and Lysol when your ill” the same someone that fooled around with Stormy Daniels while his MRS. was in the hospital, the same “great” leader that pretends they are so into god, and the same leader that calls himself the “law and order president” He is law and order just like ex President tricky Dick was.

  2. Unbelievable, you are a jerk and doing our stupid leaders bidding; foul up our Postal System. He cannot play fair so he punishes me. I ordered my prescription refill over a week ago, it hasn’t come. Today, I took my last pill for high blood pressure. Thank you very much, when I have to be rushed to the hospital I will explain that you decided it was time for me to suffer or maybe die!

    • Had you been a thinking person, you would have ordered refills long before a week before your last pill is taken! Things happen, maybe your package was stolen by that manager that was stealing medicine, maybe the package was lost in a sorter, maybe it was broken open during a jam on the machine, maybe it was never sent! Plan ahead for the unexpected, don’t wait until the last minute!
You sound like you would be a Biden supporter, so It is always someone else’s fault.

    • You have ABSOLUTELY no idea what you are talking about, do you? Have you ever worked there? I’ve seen them working their butts off for years, and they barely make enough to live on.

  3. Postal employees are spoiled brats. Enough crying in your satchels.
You have had it good for too long.
Grossly overpaid for the service provided.
Thank goodness there is a businessman
    in charge of this circus.
    Tall task ahead.

  4. Looks like the PMG has figured out that poor management IS the problem, and that there’s too many of them. Behind every scathing OIG report, there’s bad management or in some cases no management at all to blame. They haven’t done their jobs in years and he said as much, but to expect them to now is a stretch. Good luck because the bottom line is this is not a private business, a lot of these people got their jobs because of everything BUT competence.

  5. Cut the service to nothing and do what you can to make the public angry. For the veterans, the V.A. is complaining about drug shipments either late or not delivered at all. for the voter service sooo bad your vote won’t count. For the postal customer mail very late, or mail never deliver as happened to me.And for the postal employee, your job, pay, retirement, and health care gone. The annuitant, retirement and health care gone. The Postal employee that voted for the idiot that said ” You should take bleach and Lysol for illnesses”, you deserve what happens to you. The “great” leader that has lied over 17,000 times. The leader that pretends he values the military, draft dodger. He was awarded the ” Make someone else go ” campaign ribbon and medal.

    • Retired and glad or retarded and glad? Annuities, retirement and healthcare aren’t going anywhere retard. Hiring freeze, veo for management, followed by a veo for rank and file, followed by more consolidations, which began under dear leader obama(nation).

      • If you’d watch something besides FOX news you wouldn’t be making such a fool of yourself.

Even though we’ve used mail-in ballots for many many years with the military, and there have been ZERO problems with it, you can absolutely count on this administration attempting to blame the Post Office and use mail-in balloting as an excuse to mess with the voting in November.

    • This has nothing to do with president Trump. This has been going on way long before he entered into politics. Stop the bull shitting statements and look at the problem. The problem is management and always has been. If you would adjust the routes to where service can be done to each patron instead of trying to reach the a larger amount of people to serve by one carrier you would satisfy not only the customer but the employee. Spoken as a retired letter carrier.
