Postmaster Upgrades for EAS 18s to Become Effective in the First Pay Period of October 2012
In a meeting with USPS leaders, NAPUS President Bob Rapoza was told that Postmasters who were upgraded to EAS 18 as a result of the 5.75 earned daily workload evaluation process will receive a 2% increase in salary, effective in the first pay period of October, 2012. (The increase may not exceed the maximum of the grade or the amount of increase needed to reach the minimum of the new pay range.)
NAPUS has requested USPS headquarters to provide us with the number of Postmaster positions that were posted nationwide (by level,) during the second round of postings. The request also includes the number of positions awarded (by level,) as a result of the posting. It is currently estimated that the recent vacancy announcements included more than 2,700 positions that were posted for Postmasters only.
Community meetings will begin next week in some of the vacant Post Offices that have been scheduled for POStPlan implementation. Customers in the community have been given surveys which provide them with four options, including keeping the office open with realigned window hours, based on workload. The Postal Service will eventually conduct public meetings at all impacted post offices. For a list of the current public meeting schedules, click here on the USPS website.
In Fiscal Year 2014, levels of Post Offices scheduled to be impacted by POStPlan will be determined by the SOV workload evaluation in FY 2013. For an updated version of the new SOV process, formula and calculator on the NAPUS website, please go to http://www.napus.org/post-plan/sov-csv/. It’s important that you become familiar with this process, as it will determine how your office will be impacted by POStPlan in 2014.
In recent meetings with Postal officials, NAPUS leaders continued to express concerns about upgraded EAS 18 offices, where PSEs are not allowed to work the window, and PMs are contractually limited to performing 15 hours of craft work per week. This issue is being addressed by Postal headquarters and a decision is expected soon. Until then, Postmasters are advised to continue to manage your operations as you have before. As soon as a clarification is received on this issue, it will be posted on the website.
Ok, what about the people that actually touch the mail??
omg
You HAVE to be kidding me! Let’s throw a bone to the postmasters in offices who do very little and definitely do not deserve this raise! This is insulting. But what haven’t they done that isn’t insulting to the craft employees (who actually do all the work while the postmasters in Level 18 offices spend their time on their cell phones, talking on personal phone calls and playing on their computers. You know, looking up the Football Fantasy League, like Randy Brown in (now) Tipton, Indiana loves to do! The jokes on us. Let’s give people like Randy Brown a little perk since his 10% raise when getting the office wasn’t enough (all while others in our country were losing their jobs and the postal service was crying they didn’t have enough money).
No surprise. Same ‘ol same-o in the US Postal Service.
Really ?? Alot of us know him and he is one of the most hard working PM we have ever seen !! You are probably one of the ones who got into trouble by playing around and now you are upset. Stop being a cry baby and work hard like the rest of us. Be part of the solution and not part of the problem.
Wow, Really. Must be nice since we are losing billions.
