Residents Complaints of Late mail delivery In Waco, TX Prompt USPS Review

(November 7, 2013) The U.S. Postal Service says it will look into complaints from hundreds of Central Texas residents about late mail delivery and carrier errors, problems that seem to have worsened since mail-processing was moved from Waco to facilities in Coppell and Fort Worth.

Some residents have complained that their mail is being delivered as much as six hours later than normal and other say they’re often receiving mail addressed to someone else.

Waco Postmaster Kenneth Ruelas was unable to speak publicly about the problems, but USPS spokesman Sam Bolen in Austin said the Postal Service will look into the problems immediately.

“I hesitate to comment until we drill into the situation to see what is going on,” he said.

Linda Baker who lives in the Castle Heights neighborhood in Waco called the service “ridiculous.”

  1. I live at 1836 Wilson Ave. North Merrick 11566 This is my complaint our block is usually the last to get our mail today March 24th 2014 our mail came at 7pm which stinks . During the week and weekend we get our mail all different times and all different mail carriers . Its not fair that this happens, I spoke to all my friends in the area and they get their mail early everyday by 12pm their mail comes. I hope this could be fixed because I pay a lot of taxes and this shouldn’t happen when it comes to the mail. This is really sad that our mail comes late, one day I didn’t get mail one day and the next day I got double mail which stinks. Hope this could be fixed. Thank You !

  2. Management is the only ones to blame on this cause they are the ones who are delaying the mail due to # game and time . Managements games are their own worst enemy to customer service! Which should be the Priority they teach and tell us all the time.

  3. To concerned citizens of Waco, Tx; The APWU local 739, informed the Waco City Council, also the citizens of Waco using various forms of communication. The citizens of Waco were well informed that Waco would have delayed mail once the mail processing plant closed. We attempted to hold a meeting with Congressmen Bill Flores, but he failed to meet and stated he was too busy. I would highly suggest, that if the citizens of Waco want to get their mail delivered in a timely matter, that they completely ignore the Postal service comments. The Postal service has an agenda, and service to the community is not a part of this agenda. If so, mail service would have improved after closing the mail processing center in Waco, TX. It only gets worse from here. Contact your Congressmen will ALL Complaints concerning the Postal Service, because at this point he is in a position to bring more visibility to the current situation. But, keep in mind, Congressmen Flores was in agreement with closing the processing plants!

  4. FedEx- FedUp

The new ‘s story was the FedEx driver got FedUp, stop, got out the truck, threw all packages in the street an walked away.

A new state of the art delivery system?

  5. MD is the same way. No one cares anymore. The Union don’t care , the craft doesn’t care and mgmt doesn’t care . The only thing mgmt will respond to are EEO complaints and the DOL. They could careless about grievances.

  6. Sam Bolen will just come out with the party line. He has traveled far and wide spouting lies for years. Waco, sorry about your luck but you are no more important that every other city that has been screwed by losing their processing plant.

  7. All Your TSP Belong To Us ! you are wrong about postal management not caring about the customer. The problem is the customer they care about are the big mailers. Postal management meets with the big mailers and the associations they belong to on a regular basis.

The problem is that management still has not figured out that millions of people still need the post office to meet their needs and will for years to come.

  8. Clown Shoes, Nope. PA is in the same boat as everyone else. We just shake our heads because all they do is yell about office time and tell us if it doesn’t get better that they will just push our starting times back. Yet, They call mail up and then bring more around and tell us it has to go because it’s first/second class mail. They don’t count our parcels, just use the average which is documented on our paperwork that is way outdated. USPS states our parcel volume is up. Some of our routes get an avg of 30 parcels a day but they only mark you for maybe 9. We don’t see any supervisors with rulers anymore, so we have no idea how they come up with their numbers. But hey.. as long as they are happy with themselves, who cares how we feel.

Letter carriers used to start as early as 6am. That way we were hitting the streets by 8am. Now a days, most offices don’t start til 8am or later and they wonder why we are late??? Duh

  9. Mama don’t want me to work any more over time. She misses me!
How about you Cory are things under control in PA ?

  10. Scott, I am a mail carrier and you are 100% correct. They don’t care about the customer. All they care about is meeting their goals and collecting their bonus or defered compensation. Executives at the USPS do as they feel and blame everything on postmasters and supervisors. They lie to the public and twist the facts in their favor.

  11. There is nothing to “be looked into”. Management is to blame for the late deliveries and poor service. They removed thousands of clerks and make the plants run much later which means bringing in carriers later so they don’t stand around with nothing to do while they wait on mail. This then translates with the late starting times to late street deliveries, working past dark, and relying on CCA’s who are bullied into running, ignoring name tags in boxes and other things that help make delivery more accurate. Every time I’m off, even with the magenta paper in the boxes at vacant houses, CCA’s throw mail in on top of the vacant tags, and when you ask them about it, they tell you it’s because they have their own route plus two hours off somebody else. They also tell us they skip lunches and breaks, run, and do other stupid shit.
We are getting nowhere with this issue. You tell them they need to take their lunch and they get mad and argue. They are afraid to stand up to supervisors because they can be removed much easier than a regular carrier. This is a problem we can’t fix.
Management doesn’t care what the public says. You are annoying to them and get in the way of their numbers game. They couldn’t care less about quality service, only how fast you can throw mail out the window of your truck. I doubt complaining will do any good. The ones who make the difference are not manning the phones and don’t have to listen to the calls. Then when things get ugly they neatly turn the table on lower level management and supervision for all the problems. Nothing will change until there’s a house cleaning of these incompetent inconsiderate jerks.

  12. The Postal Service has been bankrupted by the lobbying power of the junk mail industry. If they were paying a REASONABLE rate which covered processing costs and fuel costs then all the facility closures would have NOT been needed.

  13. Sorry Waco, postal mgmt. does not care one bit about your concerns.

To them, customers are a nuisance and bother.

  14. The postal service does not seem to understand that delivering mail with a 3 day window at 7 PM on the 3rd day is not meeting the standard.
