SHREVEPORT, La. – A slain Shreveport postal worker was honored Thursday night by the local letter carriers union.
Antonio Williams, 52, was shot and killed in June while delivering mail on Dudley Drive.
Williams’ wife and family received plagues from the union.

“The community has just been wonderful to my family, to me,” said Ivy Shelby-Williams. “They have opened up their doors, their hearts, text messages. I still get people today, ‘I’m praying for you. I’m praying for you’. And I just want to thank the community of Shreveport Louisiana.”
Michael Gentry, the man arrested for Williams’ death, was due in court Sept. 30 for arraignment. Gentry was in a meth-induced state at the time of the shooting, sources told KTBS.
Williams had been a letter carrier for 12 years.
