South Dakota City Carrier Assistant (CCA) charged with mail theft
June 20, 2015 A postal employee in western South Dakota has been indicted on a mail theft charge.
Daniel Newman, a City Carrier Assistant (CCA) hired in 2014 from Rapid City, South Dakota is accused of stealing money, gift cards and other items contained in letters, packages, bags and other mail between November 2014 and March 2015.
Federal court records show a jury trial against Newman has been scheduled for late August. He was arrested Friday and has pleaded not guilty to one count of theft of mail matter by officer or employee.
