Hot Springs police and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service reportedly arrested a suspect Thursday afternoon in connection with the armed robbery of the downtown post office Thursday morning, according to authorities.

The robbery occurred at approximately 9:45 a.m. at the Hot Springs National Park Station.

“The U.S. Inspection Service works diligently to protect the U.S. Postal Service and its employees, infrastructure, and customers, and we are actively investigating the robbery,” McClain stated, noting that the postal inspectors are the law enforcement arm of the Postal Service.

McClain stated shortly after 5 p.m. that postal inspectors, with the assistance of local law enforcement, had arrested a suspect in the robbery, but no further information was available at press time.
