Suspicious package was parcel mailman forgot

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) -Investigators say a suspicious package found in North Charleston turned out to be a parcel that a mailman forgot to pick up.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office says at 2:20 p.m., North Charleston police and fire responded to the Lonnie Hamilton Public Services building at 4045 Bridgeview Drive for a report of a suspicious package.

When authorities arrived they saw a package on top of the mailbox in front of the building. The bomb squad was then called in to investigate the package.

During that time, the sheriff’s office says contact was made with the US Postal Service, and it was determined that a mailman had placed the package aside due to an addressing issue, and left without taking the package.

The sheriff’s office says it was confirmed that the package was not a threat and are in the process of clearing the scene.
