Tennessee postal worker gets probation for embezzling over $7,000

An Elizabethton postal clerk who admitted earlier this year in federal court to stealing more than $7,000 on the job received five years probation at his sentencing hearing in Greeneville.

In a sentencing memorandum for Michael Scott Hagie, prosecutors said they were baffled as to why the U.S. Postal Service worker with a 20-year career and salary of nearly $60,000 per year would steal from his employer.
