Texas postal worker killed in Sunday crash

A Sunday head-on collision near the intersection of Texas 174 and Highland Road near Rio Vista resulted in the death of one driver.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and Rio Vista firefighters responded to the scene at about 8:06 a.m.

The driver of a Dodge pickup, traveling north on Texas 174, crossed into the oncoming traffic while passing another vehicle, according to preliminary DPS findings.

The driver of a U.S. Postal Service truck in the northbound lane attempted to take evasive action but was unable to avoid a collision. The USPS truck driver died at the scene. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Kevin Kight, 46, of Cedar Hill.

The Dodge driver was transported to “an area trauma center” for serious injuries, DPS officials said.

The driver of a U.S. Postal Service truck killed in Sunday’s wreck near the intersection of Texas 174 and Highland Road near Rio Vista has been identified as 46-year-old Kevin Kight of Cedar Hill.
